Gorilla Post Production Opens New Dublin Studio

Gorilla Post Production
An expansion at Dublin based post-production company Gorilla, including a new studio and new reception area, is to be competed and in operation by Monday June 27th.

Gorilla Post Production is headed up by Barry Reid who explains to IFTN why he felt the development was necessary at the facility. “I took the decision to expand early on in the year after a very satisfactory 2010. Luckily over the last two years since setting up, the business has continued to grow and it eventually became obvious that I would need a second studio to accommodate the work, especially during the busy periods.” Gorilla Post Production now has two large recording studios which will “now allow for the business to grow even more and move into other potential areas while the existing clients are still being taken care of. It’s also an “insurance policy” against the unlikely event of one room going down temporarily, that there’s another studio as backup. I think this is a very important factor for a lot of clients.” The new studio will run Pro Tools HD and will be used as the main studio in Gorilla Post Production.

Gorilla Post Production has been in operation since August 2009. Founder of Gorilla is Barry Reid who has over eight years experience working in high-end audio post-production. In 2004, his work on US animation series ‘Jakers: The adventures of Piggley Winks’ contributed to an EMMY nomination in the category for ‘Best Achievement in Sound Editing for live action or animation’. Previous work done by Gorilla include 'The One Show' (BBC); 'Head Chef'; a Paul Galvin documentary ‘Galvinized’ about the controversial Kerry GAA star; ‘Gift Grub Live in Grand Canal Theatre DVD’; 26x26 animation series with Telegael and French producers Alphanim called ‘Galactik Football’; and advertising with brands such as Guinness, Audi, Cadbury’s, plus TV ads for The Irish Times, Ulster Bank, and 2FM. Gorilla Post Production now has two large recording and mixing studios and one sound edit room.

Speaking of the recent expansion, Barry went on to say “The gamble has paid off with bookings for July-September already including ‘Celebrity Head Chef’ (Sideline Productions), ‘The Importance of Being Whatever’ (Samson Films), ‘The Hardy Bucks Series Two’, on-going work for ‘The One Show’, and ‘Abadas’ (Kavaleer, animation series). There’s also a handful of other long-form TV projects that are waiting to be confirmed for July specifically, so I will definitely be needing the two studios for the majority of these sessions.”
