Having been recently shown at Cannes at part of the Official Competition in May, Irish co-production ‘This Must Be the Place’ has been snapped up by indie U.K. distributor Trinity Films. Element Pictures Distribution had previously secured the Irish rights to the film.
Trinity Films nabbed all the U.K. rights to the film from Pathe International and are looking at a 2012 release. Shot in Dublin last August and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, ‘This Must Be the Place’ stars Oscar-winning Sean Penn (Milk) and Frances McDormand (Fargo) as well as Simon Delaney (Zonad), Olwen Fouere (Space Truckers) and Eve Hewson.
It tells the story of an ageing former rock Star, Cheyenne, who attempts to track down the Nazi war criminal who persecuted his father. The film is an Irish-Italian co-production between Element Pictures and Indigo Film and Italy’s Lucky Red. Ed Guiney (The Guard) and Andrew Lowe (Zonad) co-produced for Element.
