Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter, True Grit) is confirmed to play Konstantin Levin (“Kostya”) in the film adaptation of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel ‘Anna Karenina’. Directing the project is Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice).
Kiera Knightly and Jude Law are reportedly attached to the film to play the title character and her husband. Despite reports indicating her involvement in the project, IFTN have also received confirmation that Saoirse Ronan is no longer attached to the film.
’Anna Karenina’ follows the Oblonsky family of Moscow who are torn apart by adultery. The film adaptation is set to shoot in late 2011 in the UK and Russia. Domhnall Gleeson, who received an IFTA this year for his performance in ‘When Harvey Met Bob’, can be seen later this summer in the final instalment of the Harry Potter series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ which is released in Ireland on July 15, 2011.
