Irish actors, Emmett J Scanlan and Keith Duffy have both nabbed nominations at the 2011 British Soap Awards. Emmet has been nominated in four categories including Best Actor, Best Newcomer, Villain of the Year and Best On-Screen Partnership with co-star Kieron Richardson for his work on ‘Hollyoaks’ whilst Keith is one of the nominees in the awards’ Sexiest Male category.
Emmet J Scanlan has scooped four nods for his role as Brendan Brady in Channel 4 soap, ‘Hollyoaks’. The Dubliner will face competition from Chris Gascoyne (Coronation Street), Shane Richie (Eastenders) and Danny Miller (Emmerdale) in the category of Best Actor and is nominated alongside Paula Lane (Coronation Street), Ricky Norwood (Eastenders) and Pauline Quirke (Emmerdale) in the category of Best Newcomer.
As well as being shortlisted for the title of Villain of the year, Emmet and co-star Kieron Richardson who plays Ste Hay in ‘Hollyoaks’ are nominated in the group of Best On-Screen Partnership. Their fellow nominees in the category include ‘Coronation Street’s Katherine Kelly and Simon Gregson; ‘Eastenders’ Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie and ‘Emmerdale’s Emma Atkins and Jeff Hordley. ‘Hollyoaks’ is up for a total of 12 awards.
Keith Duffy has received a nomination for the prize of Sexiest Male for his role as Ciarán Duffy in 'Coronation Street'. The other actors shortlisted include Chris Fountain (Coronation Street), Scott Maslen (Eastenders) and Danny Miller (Emmerdale). Duffy's nomination is one of 17 nominations for 'Coronation Street’ which include Best British Soap and Best Storyline.
