Irish feature film ‘Man Made Men’ has been announced as the Best Foreign Film at the 20th Anniversary Arizona International Film Festival (April 1-20th). The feature, produced by Helen Sheridan and Alex Fegan who also directed had its US premiere at the event on Saturday, April 2nd. The festival programmers have announced the list of shorts screening at the festival, of which seven are Irish projects.
Independent Irish feature, ‘Man Made Men’ clinched the award for Best Foreign Film at the event which will run until April 20th. The film shot last summer and stars Ronan Wilmot (In the Name of the Father), Kevin Cummins, Nick Cummins, Jane Downes and Tom Latchford (Mama and Damian). ‘Man Made Men’ examines the work of Benjamin Ezekiel, an arrogant young scientist who conducts an experiment which purports to unravel the mysteries of life. Three Rabbis arrive in Dublin to stop his experiment. They soon realize, however, that Benjamin is being protected by powerful forces that want to see the experiment completed.
The festival is set to screen several other Irish projects including Sean Garland’s feature doc, ‘NokotaHeart’, Risteard O’Domhnaill’s ‘The Pipe’ and Mary Redmond’s short, ‘Cured’. Further Irish shorts were recently included in the festival’s Screening Room event on Sunday, April 17th including Thomas Hefferon’s ‘The Confession’; Tim Loane’s ‘Dance Lexie Dance’; Alan Friel’s ‘Fortune’; Daniel O’Hara’s ‘Yu Ming is Ainm Dom’; Ken Wardrop’s ‘Ouch’; Brendan Muldowney’s ‘The Ten Steps’ and Liam O’Mochain’s ‘Slip Up’.
