Northern Irish production companies, Revolutions Films and Canderblinks are currently in development with ‘Good Vibrations’, a feature film centring around the Belfast-born founder of Good Vibrations records, Terri Hooley. The feature, developed with funding from the IFB, is scheduled to shoot in August 2011 in and around Belfast with actor Michael Fassbender (Hunger) signed on to appear.

‘Good Vibrations’ will be the second feature from directors Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa, the creative pair behind the IFTA nominated feature ‘Cherrybomb’. The filmmakers have founded their own film and music production company, Calderblinks with renowned NI composer and DJ. David Holmes (Out of Sight, Ocean’s Eleven) who scored ‘Cherrybomb’ and has come on board to score ‘Good Vibrations’, the company’s first feature.

Fassbender is pencilled in for a supporting role with the film’s lead cast yet to be confirmed but producer Chris Martin tells IFTN these will be announced in the coming weeks, as contracts are signed. Michael Fassbender’s ‘Hunger’ co-star Liam Cunningham is rumoured to be in talks for a part in the film.

Written by Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry, ‘Good Vibrations’ will profile Belfast-born Terri Hooley who founded Good Vibrations Records and kick started the careers of several young Belfast punk bands, including The Undertones. The producers on board are Chris Martin and Revolution Films’ Andrew Eaton (A Mighty Heart).

It is expected that the UK/Irish co-production will go into pre-production in June and July and will shoot mostly in Belfast in August with some additional footage possibly being shot in the Republic of Ireland. The film’s post production is to be carried out in the Republic of Ireland. 'Good Vibrations' was developed with funding from the Irish Film Board and the IFB is also providing production support funding alongside Northern Ireland Screen. The budget and funding information for the film is TBC.
