Production has commenced on the set of new Irish co-production, ‘Jump!’ from Dublin’s Blinder Films and Northern Ireland’s Hot Shot Films. Kieron J. Walsh (RAW, The Savage Eye) directs the feature which is currently shooting in Derry and Belfast with stars Charlene McKenna (RAW), Martin McCann (Killing Bono), Ciaran McMenamin (Outcast).
The film is based on Lisa McGee’s play of the same name – a drama that tells the story of seven people whose unrelated lives suddenly collide at the strike of midnight on New Year’s Eve. McGee has adapted her drama for the screen and shooting commenced Friday, March 8th and will wrap on Friday, March 29th.
The other actors starring in the film include Nicola Burley (Wuthering Heights), Valene Kane (The Fading Light) and Richard Dormer (Five Minutes of Heaven). ‘Jump!’ is being produced by Hot Shot Films’ Brendan J. Byrne (Saoirse) and co-produced by Blinder Films’ Katie Holly who tells IFTN that the film has reverted to its original title – “It had the working title of ‘Limbo’ for a while,” she tells us. ” But we decided to go back to the original title of Lisa’s play.”
The director of photography on board is David Rom (Hamill) who is shooting on RED. The film’s edit will be mostly carried out by Molinaire in the UK but Katie tells us that IFTA winning editor Emer Reynolds (My Brothers) will carry out the films’ offline work in Dublin.
’Jump!’ production design is carried out by David Craig whilst the costume designer is Susan Scott (Cup Cake). ‘Jump!’ has a budget of approximately €1.5m and has received funding from the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland and Limelight. It is to be completed in late 2011 and is to receive a theatrical release. AV Pictures are the sales agents for the feature.
