Irish ‘Beat Generation’ Lands in Portugal

Dublin-based multi-platform producer CR Entertainment, Ltd. has announced that segments from its online series, Beat Generation Ireland are broadcasting on Portuguese TV channel TVI 24. Furthermore, Cambell Ryan entertainment is currently in talks to produce a second season in Ireland.

The magazine show premiered on the Portugese digital news channel earlier this month to an audience share of over 120,000 viewers. TVI 24 is now the home to ‘Beat Generation’, an online lifestyle magazine which looks to cover the latest news in fashion, music, cinema, TV, parties and events. The video-blog based magazine show based in Belfast and Dublin was launched in May 2010 – the cross-platform format having already been established in Portugal and Brazil.

The Irish segments being shown on the Portugese audiences will feature a special episode about Dublin and Dublin attractions followed by a weekly inclusion of a segment from Beat Generation Ireland thereafter. Among the places and people listed to featured over the forth coming weeks are Viking Tours, an interview with Irish band The Hogan’s, Venues such as The Twister Pepper in Dublin and activities like Gooseberry speed dating.

Speaking in Dublin, Director of CR Entertainment and series producer Triona Campbell told IFTN she was delighted at ‘Beat Generation’s new international slot: “We are thrilled to be showcasing some of the best of Irelands local attractions North and South of the boarder on Portuguese TV,”she commented. “‘Beat Generation Ireland was our first outing as a company into factual transmedia and one of the series we have been working on with our partners in Brazil and Portugal so we are thrilled with it now crossing to Television and showcasing some of the best of what Ireland has to offer.”

Beat Generation Ireland episodes can also be viewed online at www.beatgeneration.tv The series was presented by Dubliner Cliona Fox, Katie Larmour from Belfast and UK presenter Alicia Drewnicki. The series is Ireland was funded in partnership with Be Entertainment Belfast and the Northern Irish Arts Council.

Campbell Ryan Entertainment Ltd. is currently in talks to produce a second season in Ireland. Further production details will be announced on IFTN in the coming weeks.
