MIPTV’s World Premiere TV Screenings event will host the international premiere screening of Irish-Canadian major co-production ‘Camelot’ which will take place on the opening evening of MIPTV 2011 on Monday April, 4th in Cannes. The show’s stars Eva Green and Joseph Fiennes will be in attendance at the screening.
The MIPTV World Premiere TV Screenings looks to act as a showcase for leading television and film companies who screen their programmes to influential buyers, industry players, and international media from over 100 countries. The international premiere offers a platform to preview, launch and raise awareness for the shows. The upcoming screening of ‘Camelot’ will open to all MIPTV delegates.
GK-TV President, Craig Cegielski will bring ‘Camelot’ to Cannes for an exclusive international presentation at MIPTV’s 2011 World Premiere TV Screenings event. The first two episodes of the GK-tv and Starz Entertainment series will be screened in the Palais des Festival’s Grand Auditorium, followed by an exclusive Q&A with the cast. Immediately following that evening, the stars of ‘Camelot’, Eva Green and Joseph Fiennes will walk the red carpet at MIPTV’s Opening Cocktail Party at the Carlton Hotel.
‘Camelot’ is based on Thomas Malory’s 15th century book, ‘Le Morte d’Arthur’ and looks to bring the saga of King Arthur to modern audiences. The series’ starry cast includes Joseph Fiennes (Flash Forwad), Eva Green (Cracks), Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd), Tamsin Egerton (St Trinians), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) and Peter Mooney (Summer’s Blood). The epic series is a co-production between the Irish production company Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions in Canada, and is executive produced by Ecosse Films’ Douglass Rae (Nowhere Boy), Academy Award winning producer Graham King (The Departed,), Tim Headington (The Young Victoria) and Craig Cegielski.
RTÉ has also secured the Irish broadcasting rights for ‘Camelot’. The 10 x one hour series will premiere in the U.S. on Starz in the Spring of 2011 and will thereafter broadcast on RTÉ Two. Channel 4 has secured the UK premiere broadcast rights to the show.
