Feirm Factor
Post production finished recently on the third instalment of Irish reality series, ‘Feirm Factor’ from Good Company Productions for TG4. The format also sold to S4C in Wales where the third series of ‘Fferm Factor’ is currently in pre-production. The Irish ten-part series begins on TG4 on Sunday, January 16th.

Debuting on TG4 in January 2009, ‘Feirm Factor’ travels the length and breadth of Ireland in search of Ireland's Top Farmer. The third series of the show is again directed and produced by Evan Chamberlain (Hector I gCeanada) who tells IFTN that, alongside its entertainment values, the show reflects the harsh world of Irish farming very accurately: “In its own right ‘Feirm Factor’ has become a beacon to Ireland’s young farmers who have availed of the series as a platform to show us the world they live in and teach us what it’s like to survive in the agricultural industry,”he tells us.

”There are no nine to five work days, no sick leave and no quitting the business to try something new. These young men and women are required to always be on the go, never stopping and constantly dealing with an assortment of trials and situations throughout their week.”

The series’ director of photography is Ross O’Callaghan (Karl Spain wants a Woman) on Digi-beta. The show’s production team consists of Aideen O’Sullivan and Brian Talbot. The third series of ‘Feirm Factor’ was edited offline was carried out by Colin Campbell (Mi na Meala) and Mary Crumlish (Paisean Faisean) whilst the online post work was carried out by Mark Quinn (The Great Escape), Shane Callan (Shattered) in High Wire with post audio done by Lime Street Sounds’ Steve McGrath (Hector I gCeanada) and Keith Alexander (Studs).

Twelve finalists were chosen from the applications that came in for the third instalment of the ten part reality series and these will be put through their paces by Maura Derrane (Four Live) who will be joined once again by her Co-Judges, former Minister for Agriculture, Alan Dukes and farming expert, Seán O’Lionáird. The winning farmer will drive home in a brand new Land Rover Discovery 4.

Evan tells us a bit about the tasks that this round of farmer finalists will face: ” Series 3 will see the farmers undertake a variety of tasks from animal handling, selling, general knowledge, machinery and business acumen to more domestic and physical skills amongst many, many others.he explains. The third series of ‘Feirm Factor’ shot on location in Kilkenny, Galway, Cork, Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow and the celebrity guests who take part in the show include Seán Bán Breathnach, Sile Seoige, Jarlath Burns, Hector Ó’hEochagáin and Des Geraghty.

Good Company Productions also recently saw the broadcast of ‘Hector i gCanadea’, which marked the tenth year in the travel series which has nabbed five IFTA so far in its run. The series have seen Hector visit all five continents and the latest eight-part broadcast before Christmas 2010 saw Evan and his team embrace the multi platform approach with a Facebook following of over 7,500 individuals. The team are currently in development with a new series and are brainstorming as to where Hector will hit next!

The third series of ’Feirm Factor’s begins at 8.45pm on Sunday 16th January 2011 on TG4 with repeats each Wednesday Night at 10.30pm. For more Information about Good Company Productions’ projects visit http://www.goodcompany.ie
