The shoot of the recent feature from Karl Golden (Pelican Blood, Belonging to Laura) is to wrap tomorrow. ‘Weekender is currently shooting in London having already shot in Amsterdam and Spain for the last five weeks. The film, which will post in London, has already secured distribution deals in UK, Canada and Spain.
‘Weekender’ tells the story of two friends, played by Jack O'Connell (This is England) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), who get drawn into the hedonistic world of warehouse parties during the UK's acid house explosion in 1990. The director of photography involved is John Conroy (Green Zone, Sweeney Todd).
Penned by actor and writer Chris Coghill (Eastenders), the film is produced by Benchmark Films/Foundation Films' Ian Brady (Re0inventing Eddie) and Stephen Salter (The Crew) and Alliance Films' Robert Walak (co-producer, Vampire Killers) and executive produced by Xavier Marchand (Dorian Gray, Birth), David Hayman (Wasted) and Mark Jaffray. DJ and producer Terry Farley is aboard as a creative consultant on the film.
The film started shooting on August 30th and has a budget of €1million which was funded by Momentum Pictures and private benchmark funds. ’Weekender’ will be distributed in the Spring of next year in the UK by Momentum Pictures, Alliance Films in Canada and Aurum Producciones in Spain.
