IFTA Membership Deadline Approaches

The deadline for receipt of Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Membership applications is fast approaching. Film and television professionals have until Thursday, September 30th to both renew and apply to join the IFTA Academy.

The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has over 1,000 active Members and is comprised of leading experts and creative talent across 14 Chapters of Discipline; Acting, Directing, Producing, Writing, Costume Design, Composing, Cinematography, Production Design, Animation, Makeup & Hair, Editing, Sound, Film and Television.

IFTA Members are invited to vote in the annual Irish Film & Television Awards and have access to a year-round programme of events, including preview screenings of Irish and international titles, masterclasses, Q&A's, ‘In Conversation With.., the annual IFTA Forum and IFTA Tribute events, along with panel and networking events.

September events at IFTA included a preview screening of Nigel Cole’s ‘Made in Dagenham’ and a preview of Paul Fraser’s feature film ‘My Brothers’ – which was attended by the director and writer who participated in a Q&A with IFTA Members.

In recent months, IFTA hosted an ‘In Conversation With…’ series with guests including screenwriter Graham Linehan; director Dearbhla Walsh; 'TOY STORY 3' director Lee Unkrich and Darla K Anderson and industry veteran Lelia Doolan taking part. Industry training Masterclasses were led by actor John Lynch, the award winning team at Ardmore Sound and M.A.C pro-makeup artists. This week, the Academy also saluted TV legend Cathal O’Shannon with their ‘Life in Television’ IFTA tribute event.

IFTA’s calendar remains action-packed into the winter months with exclusive preview screenings plus Q&As of ‘Come on Eileen’ and ‘Pelican Blood’, and a ‘Broadcasting as Gaeilge’ seminar in the works.

In addition, there are a wide range of special offers and discounts available from IFTA’s industry affiliates with your IFTA Membership card. These include discounts on training and equipment hire, reduced rates for trade magazine subscriptions, restaurant, beauty and leisure deals and concession rates on major Irish film festivals around the world.

The IFTA Academy is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to promote, encourage and reward excellence in film and television. There are two levels of Membership options available to applicants; Full Member (€100), Associate Member (€80).
