Friday, September 10th has been announced as the closing date for entries to the Radharc Awards - presented to the producers of documentaries which address national or international topics of social justice, morality or faith and honour the memory of the late Fr. Joe Dunn.
The festival winners, chosen by a jury of five independent jurors and chaired by Lelia Doolan, will be announced on October 21st where the festival’s guest of honour, BAI’s Bob Collins, will give the keynote address.
The producer of the winning entry in the two categories will receive a bronze Radharc Award trophy. Decorative scrolls for productions that are highly commended will also be presented.
Peter Dunn, director of the Radharc Trust, tells IFTN that he is delighted with the steady stream of entries coming in on a great variety of subjects for the event’s two categories – the first for broadcast documentaries and the second comprising of films of any length which have been produced for other media.
Radharc Awards are presented every two years to the producers of documentaries of outstanding quality, which address national or international topics of social justice, morality and faith. In 2008, an additional award was introduced for similar short documentaries produced for digital media.
Reminding producers of the up-coming deadline for entries, Peter remarked, "We are delighted to see this continuing interest in the Radharc Awards and that so many producers are continuing in the Radharc tradition of making documentary films tackling national or international topics of social justice, morality and faith."
The closing date for entries is Friday 10th September at 5pm. The winners will be announced at a lunchtime awards ceremony in the Alexander Hotel at Merrion Square in Dublin on Thursday 21st October 2010. The entry rules and submission forms are available at: www.radharc.ie.
