Nemeton TV Scores with Rugby Live Coverage
19 Aug 2010 :
Nemeton TV, based in the An Rinn Gaeltacht, is getting ready for an action-packed autumn kicking off with the independent company producing Magners League Rugby live coverage. The tournament kicks off on September 4th with Connaught taking on The Newport Gwent Dragons.

A statement from the indie states: ”The Nemeton team is looking forward to a very exciting tournament with live coverage of matches, including the highly anticipated Leinster V. Munster clash in the new Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 2nd October.”

As well as producing The Magners League, Nemeton TV has a number of other projects in the pipeline. The company continues to produce a number of series including ‘Laochra Gael’, ‘GAA Beo’ and ‘GAA 2010’.

Already this year Nemeton has been behind the production of four x half-hour programmes by first time directors for their ‘Céad Seans’ (First Chance) series. The documentaries, ‘Preab San Aer’, ‘Ag Damhsa go Deo’, ‘An Balbriggan Flyer’ and ‘Na Dunnes Stores Girls’ were directed, edited and produced by the students of Nemeton’s  higher diploma course in Television Production.

Also this year the company has produced ‘Na Céad Fight Clubs’, which examines the story of stick fighting in Ireland, and ‘Na Bóithre Iarainn’ (working title only), a six-part series on railways in rural Ireland. All of the above are to be broadcast on TG4 in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Nemeton TV made its debut in the world of short film this year. ’The Ottoman Empire’ which was co-funded by Galway Film Centre and RTÉ, was directed by James Phelan and produced by Nemeton’s Geraldine Heffernan. The film stars Tom Ó Súilleabháin (Rasaí na Gaillimhe) and Carrie Crowley (The Clinic).

Where training is concerned the company recently introduced a new Television Presenting course. Miriam Mulrennan, Learning and Development Manager, says of the course potential, “Our experience is that broadcasters know and trust Nemeton, and that they are aware of both our production work, and our educational arm. Hence we will market each group of graduates to the sector and the broadcasters, as they already come to us when they are looking for new talent”. The deadline for the receipt of applications for the course is Friday, August 27th. For more information regarding the course contact Miriam on 058 46499 or at miriam@nemeton.ie
