IFTA nominated films are receiving screening selections for events across Europe. Brendan Muldowney’s ‘Savage’ is to screen at festivals in Finland and Sweden whilst ‘His & Hers’, ‘Eamon’ and ‘Nothing Personal’ have all been officially selected to screen at the Norwegian International Film Festival.

‘Eamon’ and ‘His & Hers’, the debut features from Margret Corkery and Ken Wardop respectively, are to screen alongside Urszula Antoniak's ‘Nothing Personal’ at the Norwegian International Film Festival which runs until the 28th of August. The event is Norway's main festival for film and selects projects based on their artistic merit and possible interest to a Norwegian and Scandinavian audience.
Margaret Corkery wrote and directed the multi IFTA nominated ‘Emaon’, a film which stars Darren Healy (Frankie), Amy Kirwin (The Roaring Twenties) and seven year old Robert Donnelly who plays the title character of Eamon a little boy with behavioral problems parents who have a destructive relationship.
’Nothing Personal’ is the story of a rebellious young woman, played by Lotte Verbeek (Links), and an old sage, played by Stephen Rea (Ondine), who establish a bizarre relationship. Rea was IFTA nominated for his role in the Irish/Dutch co-production which is produced by Fastnet Films’ Morgan Bushe (Colony) and Macdara Kelleher (Princess) along with Sanna Fabery de Jonge (Dummy); Floor Onrust (Koning Aap); Reinier Selen (Floor Faber) and Edwin van Meurs (Off Screen).
IFTA winning ’His & Hers’ tells an intimate love story through the voices of 70 women, exploring a woman's relationship with the men in her life - father, boyfriend, husband, son. Following sequentially from little girl to old woman, each character is woven with the others into one perfectly crafted cinematic quilt. The film is directed and edited by Ken Wardrop (The Herd) and produced by Andrew Freedman (Undressing my Mother). It was shot by Kate McCullough (Snap) and Michael Lavelle (Farewell Packets of Ten).
‘Savage’ Screenings
Brendan Muldowney's debut feature ’Savage’ will appear at Finland's Espoo Cine International Film Festival at the end of August and the upcoming Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden in September.
’Savage’, starring Darren Healy (Eamon, Once) and Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent, The Magdalene Sisters), is an exploration of violence and masculinity - a story of obsession and revenge, as a man tries to come to terms with a brutal, random attack and its consequences. It was produced by Conor Barry for SP Films and funded by the Irish Film Board.
The film which recently screened at the Moscow International Film Festival is set for a theatrical release in selected cinemas nationwide from Friday 17th September, courtesy of High Fliers/Eclipse Pictures.
Espoo Ciné is an international film festival, which takes place in the city of Espoo, Finland. The festival programme includes the Espoo Ciné Selection, an assortment of the very best of contemporary European cinema. It runs from the 20th to the 29th of August. Sweden’s Lund International Fantastic Film Festival aims, with its screenings, to help stretch the limits of the imagination, and to reinforce the intrinsic value of imagination in films. It runs from the 23rd of September until the 2nd of October.
