Gerard Barrett Ascends 'Pilgrim Hill'

Cameras will start to roll on the set of feature film, ‘Pilgrim Hill’, on Monday, August 2nd. The debut feature film from writer/director Gerard Barrett the film tells the tale of a young farmer living at home with his mother in modern day Ireland.

’Pilgrim Hill’ will shoot in and around Kerry, Limerick and Cork for ten days as the story sees the young farmer enjoy a brief encounter with a foreign girl which leads to fantastic changes in his life. Thus far Gerard Kearney (The Wind that Shakes the Barley) and newcomer Shaun McDonnell are attached to the project with casting for the film about to be completed.

‘Pilgrim Hill’ is produced by John Kelly. It will be shot on RED One by Barra O’Connell and have original music by Stuart Stack. John tells us that the crew then plan to submit the film in various film festivals later this year and expects it to also have a limited theatrical release.

As previously mentioned this ‘Pilgrim Hill’ is the debut feature of 22 year old Listowel man Barrett, whose previous projects include the award-winning short, ‘The Valley of Knockanure’. Furthermore ‘Pilgrim Hill’s producer tells IFTN that Gerard will be travelling to Los Angeles in late August for a meeting with talent agency the Gersh Agency to discuss a number of scripts the writer/director has in the works.
