‘2Graves’, the feature directorial debut from new Irish helmer Yvonne McDevitt, is nearing completion of its post-production grading at London’s Post Factory having wrapped sound-post at Ardmore Sound Studios in Ireland.
Produced by Edwina Forkin at Zanzibar Films, ‘2Graves’ is described as an “art-house revenge tragedy”. The film follows the story of Jock Topps, a man who sets out to avenge those he believes are responsible for his father’s death, and in so doing he turns from adoring son to hard-bitten criminal condemned to forever re-live his own terrible violence. Director McDevitt says she drew inspiration from Jean-Luc Goddard's 'Weekend' and Peter Greenaway's 'Drowning By Numbers' when making the film.
Written by Paul Sellar, ‘2Graves’ features performances by actors Jonathan Moore, Clara Perez and Seamus Casey.
London based Irish director Yvonne McDevitt is a graduate of Trinity College and served an apprenticeship with American Director Robert Wilson at L'Opera Bastille in Paris. Thereafter she began work as a director at the Royal Court, Young Vic, and Royal National Theatres in London. Her earlier theatre credits include productions of Beckett's ‘Not I’ and Henrick Ibsen's 'A Doll's House'.
Production on ‘2Graves’ took place in July 2009 over one week in London’s Ram Brewery. DOP Jack Conroy (The Nephew) photographed on the latest Red Camera technology with two camera units. The film boasts a score by iconic film composer Michael Nyman (The Piano), with production design by Jan Walker (Art Director, Occupation) and editing by Celia Haining (Assembly Editor, Slumdog Millionaire).
