Element pictures are currently putting the finishing touches to two new feature films - ‘Essence of Killing’, starring Vincent Gallo and Emmanuelle Seigner, is currently in post production in Ardmore Sound and Alicia Duffy’s ‘All Good Children’ will have its World Premiere next month at Cannes’ Director’s Fortnight.
All Good Children
British director Alicia Duffy’s first feature, ‘All Good Children’, will have its World Premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Realisateurs).
The film stars young Irish actor Jack Gleeson (Batman Begins) and David Wilmot (Intermission, The Clinic) and tells the story of Dara, played by Gleeson, a young Irish boy who is moved to rural France with his brother Eoin after the death of their mother. There, the boys befriend a local English family and the vulnerable Dara falls under the spell of their young daughter Bella, played by Imogen Jones [pictured above with Gleeson], but when she begins to pull away, Dara’s feelings for her start to get out of hand.
‘All Good Children’ is the first production for Caveman Films, recently set up by producer Jonathan Cavendish (Bridget Jones’ Diary) and actor/director Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Godzilla). The film is an Irish/Belgian/French co-production, produced by Cavendish and Irish producer Ed Guiney (Zonad) for Element Pictures, Artemis Productions and Cinema Defacto. The film was made with the support of the Irish Film Board, CRRAV Nord-pas de Calais, Communauté Français de Belgique, Région Wallonie and Eurimages.
’All Good Children’ was shot in France under the director of photography, Nanu Segal (Shrooms). The production designer is Igor Gabriel (Rosetta) and the film’s editing is being carried out in France by Nicolas Chaudeurge (Fish Tank) with post production being coordinated by Tricia Perrott (The Count of Monte Cristo).
Speaking on ‘All Good Children’s selection for the Cannes festival, Element’s Ed Guiney said “Following on from ‘Garage’ in 2007 we are delighted to be back at the Quinzaine with a wonderful debut film from a truly gifted film maker. It’s the perfect way to launch the film to the world and we are particularly delighted for Alicia on this great achievement.”
‘All Good Children’ will be released in Irish Cinemas in 2010 by Element Pictures Distribution.
Essence of Killing
