‘One Hundred Mornings’ producer Katie Holly has been selected by the Irish Film Board to be one of 23 European producers taking part in the Cannes film festival networking platform, Producers on the Move.

The chosen producers from all over Europe will come together from May 15 – 18 for a programme of events which will give them a chance to discuss the content, planning and financing of their respective European-orientated projects. The event is hosted by the European Film Promotion (EFP).

Financially supported by the MEDIA Programmme of the European Union, the venture looks to offer the Producers on the Move participants diverse opportunities for targeted networking through exclusive roundtable meetings and the traditional Producers' Lunch with the participants of the last ten editions.

Holly says she is looking forward to making the most of the opportunity, telling IFTN: ”I’m delighted to be selected as Ireland’s representative for Producers on the Move this year and am very much looking forward to meeting the other participants and hearing about their projects. Not only is the selection a great acknowledgement, it also gives us a valuable opportunity to promote and showcase our features, ‘One Hundred Mornings’, and the recently completed ‘Sensation’ and to attract finance to ‘Citadel’, which is next up for us, set to shoot in the second half of this year.”

Many of the former Producers on the Move are now on the lists of winners at festivals and are behind the setting up of European co-productions. The past years have seen up to 50% of the event’s participants planning co-productions together. These include Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm, German participant in 2006) producer of ‘Honey’ (dir: Semih Kaplanoglu), the winner of this year's Golden Bear, as well as Daniel Mitulescu (Strada Film, Romanian participant in 2009), who produced If ‘I Want to Whistle, I Whistle’ (dir: Florin Serban), the winner of the Silver Bear in 2010.

Where Irish filmmaking is concerned, award-winning ‘Nothing Personal’ by Urszula Antoniak were made as a result of the 2008 Producers on the Move event where Macdara Kelleher of Fastnet Films and Reinier Selen of Rinkel Film & TV Productions from the Netherlands, met, discussed, planned and, shortly afterwards, produced the film which is now being released theatrically in various European countries.

For the first time, EFP will be cooperating for Producers on the Move with Commerzbank as experts for film financing. Commerzbank is a new financial partner for the EFP projects Shooting Stars and Producers on the Move and will provide the participating producers in Cannes with information about complementary financing opportunities.
