The London Evening Standard Film Awards nominees have been announced and amongst them are IFTA nominee Anne Marie Duff in the category of Best Actress and Desperate Optimists’ ‘Helen’ in the Best Film group.
Anne-Marie Duff has been nominated in the event’s Best Actress category for her role in Sam Taylor Wood’s ‘Nowhere Boy’ where she played John Lennon's mother, Julia, in the film that explores John’s early years. Anne Marie will face competition in the shape of Carey Mulligan for her role in ‘An Education’ and Kelly Macdonald for ‘The Merry Gentleman’.
The Awards’ Best Film group features three low-budget productions including Irish feature ‘Helen’, written, directed and produced by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, the pair behind ‘Joy’ and ‘Who Killed Brown Owl’, which tells the story of a missing teenager. The other features in the category are Jane Campion’s ‘Bright Star’ and Andrea Arnold’s ‘Fish Tank’
