Venom Film’s Ken Wardrop has been shortlisted for the Grierson Award at the inaugural The Times BFI London Film Festival for his feature-length creative documentary ‘His & Hers’. The event will be taking place at the Inner Temple in central London on the night of Wednesday, October 28th.
The award for the best feature-length documentary of the festival is given by The Grierson Trust, which commemorates the pioneering Scottish documentary-maker John Grierson, famous for ‘Drifters’ and ‘Night Mail’. The Grierson Trust, through its own annual awards - The British Documentary Awards - has a long-standing tradition of recognising films that demonstrate integrity, originality and technical excellence and social or cultural significance.
‘His & Hers’ is an 80 minute documentary that presents interviews with women from across the midlands of Ireland, chronicling a ninety-year-old love story, through the collective voice of seventy ladies.
Andrew Freedman, the film's producer, tells IFTN: “We are truly honoured to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. We’re proud that the film is having such an impact outside of Ireland and excited about the films future, as it continues to build momentum on the festival circuit.”
’His & Hers’ will be screening on Friday, October 23rd 6:15pm in the NTF2 (Sold Out), and Sunday, October 25th at 2pm in the Tricycle Cinema.
