‘Come West Along the Road’ returns on Friday, September 25, for its twelfth series. The series is researched, produced, edited and presented by Nicholas Carolan, the director of Dublin’s Irish Taditional Music Archive, and it documents the evolving traditions of Irish music in the last half century.
Most of the archive material used in the series has not been seen since its first transmission almost 40 years ago and will also feature exponents of traditional music such as song, dance, the tradition of the Wrenboys, set dancers, unknown and famous musicians.
The first show of the returning series of ‘Come West Along the Road’ will be shown on September 25th on RTÉ1 at 7.30pm and will feature fiddlers from two very different eras – Frankie Gavin and John Doherty.
