'Stone Pastures' Documentary Wins in Italy

Stone Pastures
Written and directed by Donagh Coleman ‘Stone Pastures’, a documentary which was co-produced by Wildfire films, has won the Grand Prix at the Cervino Cinemountain Film Festival in Italy.

Produced by Jouko Aaltonen, Martha O'Neill, Beverley Cook and exec produced by Adrian McCarthy, ‘Stone Pastures’ details the extraordinary life of a struggling Nomadic family, who struggle to rear pashmina goats as they live on the Himalayan plateau of Ladakh - a high altitude cold desert, the most inhospitable of environments.

However this struggle contains a paradox: Ladakh's gritty, rocky conditions gave rise to the finest of materials, pashmina wool. Produced by the nomads' goats as a warm undercoat, this is the raw material for luxurious Kashmiri shawls, and the only source of income for the poor nomads. The documentary follows the life of these extraordinary people over the course of nine months.

Directors of Photography on the project were; Timo Peltonen, Johannes Lehmuskallio, Keikki Farm, Donagh Coleman whilst Breege Rowley edited the documentary.

All post-production work took place in Ireland, in Egg Post Production and Adrmore Sound.
