Casting has been proceeding apace these past six weeks or so -- in New York and LA, London and Dublin, most recently in Australia and now it has been confirmed that Sean Bean (Red Riding, The Lord of the Rings) has joined HBO’s ‘A Game of Thrones’ which will commence filming in Northern Ireland later this year.
HBO’s adaptation of the George R.R. Martin best-selling fantasy book series Songs of Fire and Ice, is scheduled to shoot in The Paint Hall, Belfast, after the feature film ‘Your Highness’ wraps.
Tom Mc Carthy is directing whilst David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who wrote the screenplay are executive producing.
Sean Bean will play the character of Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark, who becomes the closest advisor to King Robert.
Other roles that have been cast, include Peter Dinklage (The Chronicles of Narnia) Irish actor Jack Gleeson (A Shine of Rainbows) as Prince Joffrey, Mark Addy as King Robert, Harry Lloyd (Oscar & Jim) as Viserys, and finally theatrical actor, Kit Harrington, as Jon Snow.
