‘Satellites & Meteorites’ Lands International Sales Deals
24 Jul 2009 :
Satellites & Metorites
The Irish rom-com ‘Satellites & Meteorites’, written and directed by Rick Larkin, has been sold by British based High Point Media Group to a number of foreign territories including Japan (AGM), Middle East (Prime Pictures), Russia (First Film) and China (DDDream)

The film, which stars Amy Huberman and Adam Fergus, follows a couple falling in love as the worst meteor showers in history rain down on earth. NBC Universal has also picked up the title for 11 territories in a pan Eastern Europe deal.

The film launched at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and went on to win ‘Best-ON Screen’ couple at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival. The most recent achievement for the i-Wire Films/Warrior Films produced feature has been the award of the Grand Jury Prize at the Santa Cruz Film Festival.

The film, shot on location in the Hermitage Medical Clinic, Dublin, Tyrrelstown and Dunboyne, hosts amongst its supporting cast: Geoff Minogue (Once), Joanne Crawford (Pure Mule), Dominique McElligott (Moon, On Home Ground), Susan Fitzgerald (The Trouble With Sex, Bachelors Walk) and Sara James (In America, Boy Eats Girl).

‘Satellites & Meteorites’ was shot on Fuji S16mm with camera equipment supplied by Production Depot and Lighting by Cine Electric. The film was produced Dave Leahy, with associate producer Eimear O'Kane and executive producer Rick Larkin. Post-production was carried out by Martha Meyler.

Speaking about the film’s international success, High Point’s Casey Fitzgerald said: “The growing success of Satellites & Meteorites just goes to show how small, low-budget gems such as this can enjoy just as much success worldwide as their bigger, more obvious cousins. Its combination of parallel universe theme and feel-good love story has proven to be a winning formula in today’s rather gloomy climate.”
