New Titles & Projects at Screen Scene Post Production
14 Jul 2009 :
Post Production facilities Screen Scene has been very busy in recent weeks with festival work, commercials, films, television and updating their website. ‘His and Hers’ by Ken Wardop, which on Sunday picked up Best Feature Award at the Galway Film Fleadh, was post produced in-house at the Dublin facility.

In honour of this achievement, Screen Scene are running a number of Galway Film Fleadh themed GRAMS to mark the festival on their website, including one with ‘His and Hers’ Director and DOP Ken Wardop and Michael Lavelle. The behind-the-scenes GRAM can be viewed online.

Tom Hall’s feature film ‘Sensation’, which is being produced by Katie Holly and Kieron J Walsh for Blinder, is currently at the offline stage with Editor Nathan Nugent at Screen Scene. ‘Sensation’, which was shot in Wicklow will complete full picture and sound post at Screen Scene in the coming months.

Also at the offline stage is ‘Val Falvey, T.D’ a six part comedy series from the team at Grand Pictures. Editor Ray Roantree is working closely with director PJ Dillon on the project which was written by Arthur Matthew and Paul Woodfull and stars Ardal O’Hanlon.

‘The Road To Croker’ was back on air last Friday with a brand new magazine-style format. The series which is produced by Loose Horse is being edited at Screen Scene by Paul Mullen.

Just finished at the facility is ‘The Take’, the SKY drama was shot in Dublin and produced by Company Pictures; the team behind ‘Inspector George Gently’. The series was directed by David Drury. At Screen Scene, Colourist Gary Curran completed the grade at 2k with delivery in HD while Ken Galvin completed the sound mix in 5.1 and delivered as Dolby-E to Sky HD for transmission.

A number of commercials that completed post at Screen Scene have gone on air this month including Coors Light-snow story (Dir: John Moore/ Russell Curran/ Chemistry), Meteor-cold reception (Dir: Lenny Abrahamson/ Speers/ Publicis QMP), 3Ireland-upfront (Dir: Hadi/ Blinder/ Irish International) and West Coast Cooler-cue the music (Dir: Richard Chaney/ Bloom). You can check these out on the website also.

Finally, the facility has launched ‘€175: A Budget For Your Lifestyle’, aimed at makers of Daytime, Lifestyle and Young Peoples programmes. “We have invested a lot of time and effort into creating file based workflows,” explains Jim Duggan, MD of Screen Scene. “We have found savings and are passing them to hard pressed production budgets. In particular for Daytime, Lifestyle and Young Peoples shows shooting on SD, we have introduced a flat rate for grading, online editing, gfx and sound of €175 across the facility. Considering the kit and people and service on offer we think this is fantastic value for money.”
