Irish animator Tomm Moore, the director of ‘The Secret of Kells’, and Magma Film’s, producers of ‘Niko & The Way To The Stars’, have been nominated for this year's Cartoon Movie Tributes.
Cartoon Movie Tributes will honour those contributors to European animation in the past year at their financing market to be held in Lyon from March 4-6 2009.
Tomm Moore is nominated in the Best European Director Category for ‘The Secret of Kells’ which is released nationwide on March 6th. The animation’s Kilkenny based producers - Cartoon Saloon - are also nominated with co-producers Les Armateurs and Vivi Film in the Best European Producer of the Year category, as is Galway’s Magma Films who are nominated alongside their production partners Anima Vitae, Cinemaker, Ulysses and A. Film for ‘Niko & The Way To The Stars’.
‘The Secret Of Kells’, which recently won the Best Irish Film at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, will screen as will the CGI animation ‘Journey To Saturn’ which will open the three day event.
Over 500 European producers, investors and distributors of feature-length animation films will be present at the event which aims to increase the number of co-productions, facilitate financing and distribution of the films internationally.
