Temple Bar TradFest Announce Film Screenings
29 Jan 2009 :
As part of the fourth annual Temple Bar TradFest, there will be film screenings of traditional Irish music films - ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ on Saturday 31st January and ‘From Shore To Shore’ on Sunday 1st February, both being screened in the IFI. The festival will also see free outdoor screenings of Irish films in Meeting House Square every evening from January 28th to February 1st.

‘Bringing It All Back Home’ and ‘From Shore To Shore’ are two celebrated pieces of film made on the subject of traditional Irish music. ‘Bringing It All Back Home’, produced and written by Philip King and Nuala O’Connor, is the story of that music and its extraordinary odyssey from the kitchen to dancehall, from concert platform to international rock stadium, and back. The film will be screened at the IFI on Saturday 31st at 12pm. Following the screening, a public interview will be conducted with writer and producer, Philip King.

Using New York as the focus, ‘From Shore To Shore’ is a 57-minute documentary that examines both the continuity and the changes that have affected Irish traditional music since the turn of the last century and will screen on Sunday 1st February at 12pm. Tickets for both IFI films cost €8/€10

Adding to the cinematic elements of the festival will be the free outdoor screenings of Irish films ‘Fluent Dysphasia’ and ‘Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom’, in the Meeting House Square. Both films directed by Daniel O’Hara (Paddywhackery), with ‘Fluent Dysphasia’ staring festival patron Stephen Rea. Both movies take a humorous look at the place of the Irish language in Irish society.

Temple Bar TradFest which is partly sponsored by Bushmills and Dublin City Council is funded and organized by Temple Bar Traders Group, TASCQ to provide the city with a much needed boost at a time of the year when here are few events happening in Dublin.
