Factual Series ‘Blueprint’, feature doc ‘Waveriders’, and feature dramas ‘Eden’ and ‘Whistleblower’ are some of the Irish nominees who have made the shortlist for the Celtic Media Festival Caernarfon 2009, running from 25 - 27 March.
The Celtic Media Festival's aim is to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries on screen and in broadcasting and is supported by broadcast, film, cultural and economic development organisations throughout the Celtic countries of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.
’Blueprint’ (BBC Northern Ireland) has been nominated in the Factual Series Category, documentary ‘Brian Keenan: Back to Beirut’ (Chistera Productions) is shortlised in Factual Single while in the Sports category ‘Re-United’(BBC NI) and ‘Waveriders’ (Inís Films / Besom Productions) have made the shortlist.
In the Arts category Midas Production’s ‘Patrick McCabe: Blood Relations’ features, in Short Drama, PJ Dillon’s ‘An Ranger’ and ‘Rearview’ (Alice Productions) are nominated as is both ‘Eden’ and ‘Whistleblower’ in the Feature Length Drama.
‘Prime Time Investigates – Cocaine Ireland’ (RTÉ) is nominated in Current Affairs
and ‘Na Dódaí’ (Imagine Media) and ‘Written Off?’ (Animo) are listed in the
Education Category. Irish drama series ‘Seacht’ (Stirling Film & Television/
Tyrone Productions/Eo Teilifís) is shortlised in Young People’s while ‘Ceolchuairt Nua Eabhrac’ (Magamedia) is nominated in the Entertainment Category.
The shortlist for the Kieran Hegarty Award for Interactivity will be added in due course.
