Cinemagic Masterclass For Budding Actors
08 Jan 2009 :
A three-day intensive Cinemagic masterclass called ‘Cinemagic Stars’ running in Belfast from 23rd- 25th January 2009 is offering budding actors the opportunity to learn from industry professionals including actress Suranne Jones (Coronation Street, Vincent, Harley Street) and Angel Coulby (Merlin).

Young people aged from 13-18 who are interested in contemporary and musical theatre will have the chance to develop their skills through devising, rehearsing and performing numerous pieces of drama, under the guidance of experienced actors and a musical director, and the masterclass will culminate in a live production on the final day.

Laura Carlisle, Cinemagic, discusses the project:

“Acting plays an influential role in building confidence and boosting an individual’s self-confidence and Cinemagic aims to motivate and inspire the young people involved. We are delighted that Cinemagic patron Suranne Jones is returning to Belfast to lead the 3 day workshop, which is guaranteed to be fun-filled and educational. Participants will be assigned the task of staging a production within 72 hours. This is quite a challenge, as the young people won’t have worked together previously, or in such a short turn-around time.”

To register interest, candidates must explain in no more than 300 words why they would like to participate in the 3 day masterclass and state the area of most interest - contemporary or musical theatre. Name, age, address, phone number, email address, school name, address and phone number must also be included. The cost for the masterclass is £40.00. Entries should be sent to Laura Carlisle, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JL or email Laura@cinemagic.org.uk by 13th January 2009.

The second Coca-Cola Cinemagic Film Festival in association with Spencer Dock, Dublin, takes place from 6-13th May and the programme will be launched on 5th March 2009.
