New musical drama ‘Vox Humana (notes for a small opera)’ written and directed by Bob Quinn (Poitín, The Bishop’s Story) will air on Tuesday 30 December on TG4, at 9.05pm.
Produced by Cinegael, the drama is the story of a homeless man who becomes obsessed with a girl he sees in the street who reminds him of his own small daughter and an accident for which he was partly responsible. The girl is a soprano in the Galway Baroque Singers choir, of which Luke wheedles his way into and is given a job as handyman - plus a chance to play percussion at a major concert.
The drama features Luke Cauldwell, Audrey Corbett, Cliodhna Hurst, Triona Lillis and the 70-strong Galway Baroque Singers and is lensed by Billy Keady and Seamus Deasy with Manuela Corbari editing.
'Vox Humana (notes for a small opera)' picked up the Director’s Choice Award at this year’s Boston Film Festival, and was awarded second prize in the Best Irish Feature Category at this years Galway Film Fleadh. The film recently won the Best Original Approach (to music on film) award at the Skopje International Music Film Festival in Macedonia.
Director Bob Quinn told IFTN: “This is an old fashioned musical with a true-life story behind it.”
