‘Breaking Boundaries’ is a behind the scenes documentary following the success of the Irish Cricket Team at last years Cricket World Cup. Made up mostly of amateurs; a farmer, a delivery driver, a civil servant, a teacher, and a postman; they went into battle against the greatest cricketing nations of the world, were questioned by police over the mysterious death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, and then discovered peace had been brokered in their native Ireland. The doc follows the Irish underdogs as they created World Cup history with their shock victories over giants Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Directed by newcomer Paul Davey through Zanzibar Films and Let's Not Lose It Productions (Headrush, Aidan Walsh - Master of the Universe) the film received funding through the BCI Sound & Vision Fund and Setanta Sports.
"This is classic David v Goliath, and the response has been amazing," says producer Shimmy Marcus. "The film has already sold to BBC, SBS Australia, ESPN, and we're very grateful to the BCI and Setanta for giving us the opportunity to tell this heroic underdog story".
