Clones Film Festival will host the an exclusive preview screening of ‘ The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce’ on Friday 24 October 2008 at 8pm in the Lennard Arms Hotel, Clones with it’s lead actor Ciarán Mc Menamin (Watermelon) in attendance.
The film was written and produced by Nial Fulton, who hails from Enniskillen but now resides in Australia and stars an ensemble Irish and Austalian cast including Fermanagh actors Adrian Dunbar (Whistleblower) alongside McMenamin. Fulton has worked on many past Irish big budget productions as location consultant including ‘King Arthur’ and ‘Reign of Fire’ and has worked with the Irish Film Board and the Northern Ireland Screen.
Co Produced by the Australian Essential Viewing Group and RTÉ/ BBCNI, the film is directed by Michael James Rowland (Lucky Miles) and opens here in Ireland in 2009.
The drama follows the final days of Irish convict Alexander Pearce's (McMenamin) life as he awaits execution after being deported to the living hell that is Van Diemen’s Land. Pearce hailed from Clones parish before he was deported in 1819 after stealing six pairs of shoes.
Ciarán McMenamin and Paul Stewart, art director on the film, will attend the screening and will host a post screening Q&A in the Lennard Arms Hotel
