The Radharc Awards were presented this afternoon in Dublin at a lunch for over 100 people. The overall winner was AIDS in Africa A Missing Generation, produced by Wildfire.
Two other documentaries received Highly Commended; Fear na nOilean (Lugh Films) and What in the World Kampuchea (KMF). The Short Documentary award was presented for F.G.M No Way Home, produced by the Huston Film School.
The Radharc Awards honour the memory of the late Fr Joe Dunn, co-founder of Radharc Films. They are presented to the producers of documentaries of outstanding quality, which address national or international topics of social justice, morality or faith. There is no requirement that the documentary be of any specific religious adherence, but it should portray positive human values and should imply a challenge to the moral conscience of the kind that distinguished many of the Radharc films.
