Filming has wrapped on the short film 'Douglas' Hide'
25 Sep 2008 :
Based on true events and set in the 1930’s, the film stars Diarmaid Murtagh (Seacht) and Cillian O’ Sullivan (The Running Mate) as two friends from opposite sides of town, who share a voracious passion for hurling.
When local pride and sporting politics interfere, it sparks a bitter fall-out between the two, and has unforeseen consequences for the first President of Ireland.

The Irish language short was awarded funding from the Filmbase/TG4 LASAIR scheme.

'Douglas' Hide' is directed by Vincent Gallagher and produced by Claire McCaughley, from a script by Hugh Travers. The film features young talent Kevin O’Dwyer and Naoise Gibne, who play the two friends as children. Belle Phipps and Johnny Mulvaney realised the period setting in the costume and production design with Stephen Russell behind the camera as Director of Photography. The same writer/director/producer team will shoot Crossword, a Filmbase/RTE short later this year.

Gallagher’s short film 'Bright Idea' scooped the Undergraduate Drama Award at the Royal Television Society (RTS) Student Awards earlier this year.
