Shark Awards Winners Announced

Anti-Litter Boy/Girl
Irish creative agencies Publicis QMP, Cawley Nea TBWA, DDFH&B as well as broadcasters BBC NI, RTÉ and TV3 all took home awards following the 46th Kinsale Shark Advertising Awards over the weekend.

The awards were spread out across three categories – Promo, Broadcast and Print. A panel of international judges gathered in the days before the event to pick the winners while guest speakers included Richard O’Brien, the creator of the ‘Rocky Horror Show’ and presenter of ‘The Crystal Maze’ and Paul Burke, the acclaimed radio script writer.

The best of the Irish broadcast section were Publicis QMP who won 5 Sharks including their ‘Anti-Litter Boy/Girl’ which picked up awards in – Best Irish Television, Best Use of Music and Sound Design, Irish TV Series and Best Direction.

Cawley Nea TBWA also took home 5 Sharks (1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Diplomas) and DDFH&B’s ‘Millionaire Maternity Ward’ won two Silvers in the Irish Television and the Best Use of Sound Design Categories.

Promo Winners consisted of RTÉ scooping 14 Sharks (2 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze) of which the ‘Olympics Launch Promo’ won in the categories of Best Use of Graphics, Best Sound and Best Sports Promo. BBC Northern Ireland took home Sharks for their entries in Best Direction Category for ‘Get Here’ and ‘ Blueprint’ and the Radio Category and TV3 picked up silver in the Best Use of Graphics for ‘Ireland AM Sunshine’ and Bronze in the Best Campaign Series for ‘Body Image Week’.

The Palm D’Or, which is awarded to the production company that receives the most honours, went to London agency Gorgeous Enterprises their ‘Play Doh’ advertising for Sony Bravia while the Grand Prix for the World Winner Television category went to the UK Based Fallon for the Cadbury’s Gorilla advert. The festival marked the introduction of the Agency of the Year Award which was received by the agency Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO in London.
