Heritage Week Hosts ‘O’Hara’ & ‘Hurling’ Lectures

As part of National Heritage Week (24- 31 August) talks will be given on Irish actress Maureen O'Hara (The Quiet Man, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and the place of ‘Hurling in Hollywood’, both being held in the capital on Thursday 28th August.

The illustrated lecture The Pirate Queen from Ranelagh: Maureen O'Hara in Hollywood will be given by Ruth Barton of Trinity College Dublin's Film Department at 7.00pm in Rathmines Library, with free admission.

The GAA Museum in Croke Park will host the talk Hurling and Hollywood presented by Dr. Seán Crossan from the Huston School of Film and Media on how Hollywood studios have used hurling in American Cinema. Admission for adults is €10, senior/student €10

Booking for both events is essential as places are limited.

Heritage Week is part of European Heritage Days, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union. In Ireland, Heritage Week is coordinated by the Heritage Council with support from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
