Rupert Grint
Filming begins this week on Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa’s drama ‘Cherrybomb’, with 'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint, Kimberley Nixon (Cranford) and Robert Sheehan (Rock Rivals, Summer of the Flying Saucer) in the starring roles.

Penned by IFTA nominated writer Daragh Carville (Middletown), the film follows the story of best friends Malachy and Luke, whose friendship is tested with the arrival of troubled beauty Michelle. She pushes them to carry out dangerous and illegal tasks to vie for her affections, with fatal consequences.

‘Cherrybomb’ is produced by Mark Huffam and Simon Bosanquet’s Generator Entertainment, with Michael Casey’s Green Park Films and Octagon Films. The film will be scored by renowned NI composer and DJ David Holmes (Out of Sight, Ocean’s Eleven).

“Daragh Carville’s Belfast-set script gives a cool, contemporary twist to the traditional buddy-movie, set squarely against the backdrop of a city in the process of rebuilding its identity – it’s perfect material for Glen and Lisa’s fresh and original talents,” said Huffam.

‘Cherrybomb’ is the second film on the Generator slate, the first being Paddy Breathnach’s ‘Freakdog’. The next film to go into production will be ‘Ghost Machine’ directed by Chris Hartwill from a script by Sven Hughes.

‘Cherrybomb’ is funded by the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, with International sales being handled by Robbie Little’s The Little Film Company.
