Irish filmmaker Alan Cooke’s documentary debut ‘Home’ is set for an Irish cinema release in the Eye Cinema, Galway from July 11th 2008.
The film, written, produced and narrated by Cooke, is an Irish immigrant’s reflection on his experience of New York City as he contemplates the concept of home and the ever changing cosmopolitan city.
The 70 minute doco, directed and edited by New York filmmaker Dawn Sebolitz, features interviews with Liam Neeson (Seraphim Falls, Love Actually), Mike Myers (The Love Guru, Austin Powers), Susan Sarandon (Speed Racer, Enchanted), Rosie Perez (Riding in Cars with Boys), Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code, Spider Man 2) and writers Fran Libowitz and Frank McCourt.
The low-budget film shot was shot on various dates from 2004 – 2006 on a HD camera by Cooke and received its world debut at the Lincoln Centre, New York.
‘Home’ has already screened at several festivals including the Palm Beach Film Festival, Chicago Irish Film Festival and Poland Film Festival and scooped the Best Documentary award at the 2006 Boston Irish Film Festival. ‘Home’ received its Irish TV debut on TG4 and will air on American station PBS and Canal Plus, Poland later this year. The film will also screen as part of the IFI’s Sunday Series on Sunday 24th August.
‘Home’ kicks off its cinema run at 7.30pm on Friday July 11th 2008 at The Eye Cinema, Galway.
