Gréasán na Meán are seeking talented Irish language writers to submit TV scripts for SÍOL, a new development initiative that will see six writers develop a script to be broadcast as a part of a drama series on TG4.
SÍOL, which is funded by BCI, TG4 and Údaras na Gaeltachta,
will give fluent Irish speaking writers or writer/directors the opportunity to write, develop and produce a television script.
The initiative is open to Irish writers nationwide, whether experienced in writing for television or not, and to directors who wish to gain experience in TV drama.
Interested applicants should submit a script for a 25 minute drama on the theme of ‘Family’. This can be a general reading of the word and not necessarily the traditional nuclear family. Submission should also include a one page summary and notes on the characters.
Six proposals will be chosen from the submissions and the selected writers and directors will participate in a series of writer/director masterclasses before bringing the series to production and broadcast.
Closing date for entries is 13th August 2008.
Application forms and further guidelines can be found at www.siol.ie.
