Irish actor Liam Neeson (Michael Collins, Schindler’s List) has joined James Nesbitt (Murphy’s Law, Cold Feet) in the cast of Oliver Hirschbiegel’s TV film ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’, currently shooting on location in Belfast.
The film, commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland, is written by BAFTA-winning scribe Guy Hibbert (Omagh). Partly based on true events, the film tells the story of two men, Joe Griffin and Alistair Little, wracked by their experiences during the violent conflicts in Northern Ireland and their struggle to come to terms with the after effects.
The pic, which began filming mid-May, will wrap its Northern Ireland shoot this weekend. DOP on the pic is Ruairi O’Brien (The Running Mate, Teeth).
Co-financed by Northern Ireland Screen, ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’ is produced by Eoin O’Callaghan at Big Fish Films and BBC’s Stephen Wright, with executive producer Paul Trijbits (Bloody Sunday, The Wind that Shakes the Barley) at Ruby Films. International sales are being handled by Pathé, who is backing the project with the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures, who will distribute the film in Ireland.
