John Crowley’s IFTA-nominated ‘Boy A’ and IFTA-nominated director Marion Quinn’s ‘32A’ are set to screen at the Newport International Film Festival, which takes place from 3rd-8th June in Newport, Rhode Island.
‘Boy A’, which screens in the Feature category, is written by IFTA-winning scriptwriter Mark O’Rowe (Intermission). The film tells the story of 24 year old Jack, recently released from juvenile prison, who struggles to adapt with his new life and freedom. Crowley picked up the Best Director Fiction / Entertainment BAFTA TV Award for his work on the film.
‘32A’, which screens in the Children’s Feature category, is a coming of age drama set in 1979 Dublin that centres on 13-year-old girl schoolgirl Maeve Breenan as she comes to terms with impending adolescence. The film scooped the Best First Feature award at last year’s Galway Film Fleadh, and stars Aidan Quinn (Song for a Raggy Boy, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) and Orla Brady (How About You, Mistresses).
