The final instalment of RTE’s six-part documentary series ‘Hollywood Trials’ airs tonight, Thursday, 15 May at 9.35pm, with the ten aspiring Irish actors reaching the end of their LA adventure.
Produced by Grainne O'Carroll of Sideline in association with Red Pepper Productions, the ‘Hollywood Trials’ series received a positive critical reaction and proved popular with Irish audiences attracting almost 170,000 viewers in its first week.
The show follows actors; Susan Ateh, Annemarie Gaillard, Michael Graham, Cat Lundy, Audrey McCoy, Joe McKinney, George McMahon, Chris Newman, Emmet Scanlan and Holly White; over a four week period as they live together in LA. The actors attend intensive training classes in acting and audition techniques, participate in sessions with dialect coaches and seek advice from working actors, as well as a top trainer and stylists.
The ten participants were selected by audition coach Margie Haber, award-winning director Declan Lowney (Little Britain, Fr Ted, Cold Feet) and casting director Ros Hubbard (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Lord of the Rings, The Commitments, Lara Croft).
The series was shot in last September and tonight we find out which of the actors fared best in their ‘Hollywood Trial’ as agents and managers clamour to sign the best of the Irish talent. In addition, famed acting coach Margie Haber gives her take on who will make it in the industry, Emmet Scanlan reveals whether or not he will take the part in an independent feature film and we find out where the young actors are now.
