30 Apr 2008 :
Connie Nielson
Irish actor Aidan Quinn (32A, Legends of the Fall) and Danish actress Connie Nielson (Gladiator, One Hour Photo) will star in ’A Shine of Rainbows’, a new Irish feature set to begin filming on location in Donegal on 12th May, directed by Emmy award winning Indian director/ DOP Vic Sarin (Partition, Cold Comfort).

The film, with a budget of approximately €3.5 million, will shoot for five weeks on location in Inisowen Peninsula, Malinhead, Carndonagh and Doagh Island. Vic Sarin, whose cinematography on TV series ‘Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World’ won him a primetime Emmy, will direct and DOP the project.

’A Shine of Rainbows’, produced by Sepia Films, Canada and Octagon Film, Ireland, also stars John Bell, Jack Gleeson and Tara Scully. Based on the novel by Lillian Beckwith, ‘A Shine of Rainbows’ tells the story of how a lonely orphan's life is transformed by an extraordinary woman who teaches him to conquer grief and discover the magic in nature and himself.

The Canadian / Irish co-production was adapted for the screen by Vic Sarin, Catherine Spear and Dennis Foon and produced by Tina Pehme (Sepia Films), Kim Roberts and James Flynn (Octagon). Production design is by Tom McCullagh (Closing the Ring, Mickybo and Me) with costume design by Susan Scott (Boy Eats Girl). The film is cast by John Hubbard of Hubbard Casting.

The film is funded by the IFB and Section 481. Post-production will take place in Canada.
