Mint Productions IFTA-nominated doco ‘Get Collins’ and John Crowley’s IFTA-nominated TV drama ‘Boy A’ are in the running for awards at these year’s Banff World Television Festival, which takes place in Alberta, Canada from 8-11 June 2008.
‘Get Collins’, produced by Mint Productions, will compete in the History & Biography Programs category. The doco will compete with ‘1968 with Tom Brokaw’ (USA), ‘Hindenburg’(UK), ‘Tammuz’(Israel), ‘Tasmanian Devil: The Fast and Furious Life of Errol Flynn’ (Australia) and ‘White Light/ Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki’ (USA).
‘Boy A’, from Irish writing / directing team Mark O’Rowe and John Crowley (Intermission) is nominated in the Made for TV Movies category. The film will go head to head with ‘Autopilots’ (Germany), ‘Borderline’ (Germany), ‘Recovery’ (UK) and ‘Stuart, A Life Backwards’ (UK).
A host of Irish TV productions will also screen ‘Hors Concours’ (Out of Competition). These include Tern Television’s IFTA-winning ‘At Home With The Clearys’, Tyrone Productions ‘Ireland’s Generation Game’ and Ikandi Productions ‘Na Molly Maguires’, all screening in the Social & Humanitarian Documentaries strand.
Tobar Productions ‘Deis Roc 2’ and Vision Independent Productions ‘Operation Transformation’ will screen in the Interactive Program Enhancements category. The festival will also screen episodes of IFTA-winning series ‘Prosperity’ and ‘The Running Mate’, Magamedia Teo’s ‘Ceolchuairt’, Adare Productions ‘Glas Vegas’, Magma Films’ ‘Paisean Faisean 4’, Moondance Productions ‘Sculpting Life’, Stirling Productions ‘Seacht’, Macdara Films ‘Teach Glas 2’ and Reel Story Productions ‘The Killings at Coolnacrease’.
