Filming on a new Irish short 'Calibre' begins in Dublin this week. Directed by Robert Kelly (The Four Horsemen) and written by Nicholas McLoughlin, the action/comedy will shoot on locations in Dublin throughout the week.
‘Calibre’ is produced by Feargal Duffy of Zodiac Films and exec-produced by the short’s lead actors John Mulvey and James Cosgrave. The story follows two professional killers who are hired by an 'Agency' to take out a target, but things take a turn for the worse when the pair discover they are in competition with each other and the target is their old boss.
Stephen Murphy (Bog Bodies) is director of photography, shooting on two XD1 to hard disc cameras, while Team FX’s stunt coordinator Paul Burke will head an array of special effects.
Director Robert Kelly commented to IFTN about ‘Calibre’, which he envisions will be about 14 minutes in length: “It’s ambitious but is going to be very slick and hopefully will rock on the festival circuit.”
