Colin Farrell to Take Over Ledger Role
21 Feb 2008 :
Irish actor Colin Farrell (Miami Vice, Intermission) is one of three stars who will replace the late actor Heath Ledger (I’m Not There, Brokeback Mountain) in his final film ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’, directed Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Brother’s Grimm).

Farrell, Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and Jude Law (Sleuth, Closer) will all play different versions of Ledger’s character, Tony, who falls through a mirror on four separate occasions and changes his appearance in the fantasy film, co-written by Gilliam and Charles McKeown.

‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’, which co-stars Christopher Plummer (A Beautiful Mind, Closing the Ring), tells the story of a traveling show which offers its audience the opportunity to choose between light and dark.

Ledger had completed filming the London segment of the $30 million movie just days before he was found dead in his New York apartment on January 22nd. The production was due to continue filming in Vancouver, Canada, but was put on hold following the news of Ledger’s death.
