Daniel Day Lewis Wins Golden Globe for 'There will be Blood' Performance in a Motion Picture (Drama) for his role in ‘There Will Be Blood’.
Day Lewis has strong Irish ties being an Irish resident with a house in Co. Wicklow.
Following the cancellation of the gala ceremony due to the WGA strike, the winners were announced at a low key press conference in Los Angeles last night.
Other Irish nominees; Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Saoirse Ronan and James Nesbitt; failed to pick up the top honours losing out to Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Cate Blanchett (I’m Not There) and Jim Broadbent (Longford) respectively.
British film ‘Atonement’ was awarded the Best Motion Picture – Drama gong, while Tim Burton’s ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ scoped the Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) award.
