Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board have announced the five successful projects for this year’s Short Cuts scheme.
The Short Cuts scheme is aimed at fostering new talent and encouraging innovative short film making in Ireland.
Successful short films produced in the past as part of the scheme include ‘New Boy’ directed by Stephanie Green, which won the Audience Award for Best International Short Film at the recent Corona Cork Film Festival; ‘Colder ‘directed by J.J. Harrington, and ‘Screwback’ directed by Brian O'Malley.
The five successful projects for this year’s scheme are:
- Blinder Films - ‘BogBodies’, written/directed by Michael Kinirons and produced by Katie Holly
- Three Men in a Can Films - ‘Spaceman Three’, written by John Butler and Hugh O’Conor, directed by Hugh O’Conor, produced by Lucy Dyke, executive produced by John McDonnell
- Image Now Films - ‘The German’, written/directed by Nick Ryan, produced by Olivia Leahy, executive producer John McDonnell
- Red Rage Films Ltd - ‘Of Best Intentions’, written/directed by Brian Durnin and produced by Paul Holmes
- Octagon Films Ltd - ‘The Door’, written/directed by Juanita Wilson, produced by Louise Curran and executive produced by James Flynn.
Short Cuts is co-funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and RTÉ. This will be the last year of the Short Cuts scheme. The successful five shorts will premiere at the Galway Film Festival next year.
