Irish short film ‘The Blaxorcist’, written and directed by Edward King, has been nominated for the Melies d’Argent Best Short Film competition at Finland’s Espoo Cine Film Festival, which takes place from the 21st-26th August.
The six minute long comedy the story follows the story of a young white girl who has been possessed by soul music, and Father Ferris’s attempts to rid her of her musical demons. ‘The Blaxorcist’, which premiered at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh, has also been selected for Best First Short competition at the Dingle Film Festival where director Alan Parker will be one of the judges.
‘The Blaxorcist’ is directed and produced by Three Way Productions, the team behind 2004’s micro-budget zombie movie ‘Dead Meat’. This time King is in the director's seat and Conor McMahon is producing and editing. King is also founder of Dublin’s annual Horrorthon festival.
‘The Blaxorcist’, funded by the Irish Film Board, stars actors Marcus Valentine , Tim Dillard, Donna Nikolaisen, Naula Kelly and Emma West. Cinematographer on the project was Patrick Jordon, with music by Brendan Campbell.
The festival, in its 18th year, takes place at the Espoo Cultural Centre, Tapiola, Finland.
The film will screen at 8.15 pm on the 24th August.
